Performing Arts

We are proud to have been a Specialist School for the Performing Arts for eight years. Our specialism has had a very positive impact on the school in raising achievement and aspirations both within the Performing Arts and across the whole school. We run an extensive range of curriculum based courses as well as many enrichment and enhancement activities. We have also developed close links through performing arts projects with our local primary schools and a number of local community organisations.

We are particularly proud of our school shows which have included ‘Oliver!’ in February of this year and ‘Sedgehill in Wonderland’ most recently. Our school band has toured the world (14 tours in 22 years from San Francisco to Sydney) and our school choir won the 2010-2011 Music for Youth competition which culminated in an amazing performance at the Royal Albert Hall. ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE: Our Artists in Residence are integral to our work in the Performing Arts at Sedgehill as we believe that working with an artist in residence enriches and enhances our students’ experience of school.

WIDER COMMUNITY EVENTS: We are continually looking to forge links with our local community through the Performing Arts. Through a variety of projects we encourage students to have positive impact on the community surrounding them by sharing their talents.

BURSARIES: We currently offer three different bursary programmes. Please follow the  link for more information.

CURRENT PROJECTS: We are currently working closely with the Trinity Laban, the Old Vic Theatre, and Music for Youth. Please follow the link to find out more about up-to-date projects, events and performances at Sedgehill.

VOCALIZE: Visit our national-award winning urban chamber choir’s website.  Vocalize have performed at The Royal Albert Hall as part of the School Proms in association with Music for Youth.

  • "All of us thoroughly enjoyed the workshops and helping with the scenery. Over twenty members of our group came to see the performance of Oliver and thought it was absolutely magnificent."
