Physical Education
The ethos of our department is to provide our students with the tools, motivation and self-esteem to enable their participation in physical activity beyond their school years. However, Physical Education at Sedgehill is also amongst the highest attaining in Lewisham borough in terms of examination results.
Students can participate in many extra-curricular clubs within Physical Education, activities include Football, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Netball, Fitness, Hockey, Athletics, Cricket, Softball and Tennis to name but a few.
Physical Education is taught for four hours over a fortnight in Years 7, 8 and 9, for five hours over a fortnight at GCSE and for ten hours over a fortnight at BTEC level 3 in Key Stage 5. Plus all students in key stage 4 must participate in three hours of Physical Education every fortnightly period.

YEAR 10/11 COMPULSORY PE
Some classes will follow BTEC level 2 course from September 2010, we aim by September 2012 that all students will complete this GCSE equivalent qualification.
Sports that are taught as part of this offer are:
Athletics, Basketball/Netball, Badminton, Fitness, Football, Softball, Table Tennis, Dance & Tennis.
Attainment
GCSE PE results have been consistently high for the last 3 years attaining between 69 and 67% A*- C grades in 2008, 2009 and 2010. We are hoping to manage 70%+ A* - C in 2011.
EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 is offered at Key Stage 5 by the Sedgehill PE department. We have a successful history teaching
A - Level however this course has now been replaced. Last year 71% attained merits or distinctions and 100% pass or better. We are expecting very good results with our current year 12 and 13 groups.
