The Art and Design staff operate as a team and are all commited to promoting high standards in Art.

We have eight teachers qualified in Fine Art, each offering an additional specialism.

KS3

Art at KS3 is above all, interesting, fun and exciting. We make masks, pottery and work with lots of other interesting materials.

KS4

The work set is thematic and follows the GCSE Edexcel specification. In the first unit the programme of work is prescriptive to give students confidence and ensure they explore and experiment with a wide range of media and scale.Students are then given the freedom to develop their ideas and communicate visually.

KS5

At AS and A2 students follow the 2 year Edexcel Art course. The first unit of work concentrates on building observational skills at drawing, painting and photography. The second unit requires work on  a theme developing 3D skills of ceramics and sculpture.

Photography is a 2 year , Level 3 BTEC.
